The beach area and boat launch are accessible from the entrance off Williams Lake Road. Pontiac Lake Recreation Area has a large beach on Pontiac Lake, with picnic shelters, picnic tables, and recreation facilities nearby.

The Pontiac Lake Recreation Area has miles of trails for mountain biking, horseback riding, and hiking. The trailhead for the mountain biking trail is near the north parking lot at the beach area. There are hiking trailheads at the beach area, at the modern campground, and on the north side of Gale Road. The equestrian trail staging area is at the end of Maceday Road.
