Kal-Haven Trail State Park Maps and Information

The Kal-Haven Trail State Park is a recreational trail that connects Kalamzoo and South Haven, stretching over 34 miles. The trail is used for bicycling, hiking, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and horseback riding. The route passes through wooded areas, past farmland, and through the rural communities of Bloomingdale, Gobles, and Grand Junction.

The popular trail requires a trail pass to use, which can be obtained at either the trailhead in South Haven or Kalamazoo. Annual passes are available through the Van Buren County Road Commission, by mail or in person, at its Lawrence office, 319 W. James St.

The trailhead in South Haven is west of Blue Star Highway on Bailey Street. From Blue Star Highway, go west on Wells Street and then turn north on to Bailey Street. The trailhead is on the right side of the street and has a large paved parking lot. For a close-up map of the South Haven trailhead, see the South Haven Parks & Trails section.

There are also parking areas located near the Kal-Haven Trail in Grand Junction, Gobles, and Bloomingdale. Restroom facilities are located near the parking areas in Grand Junction and Bloomingdale. You will still need a trail pass if you use one of those parking areas.

The Kalamazoo trailhead is west of US-131 on 10th Street. From US-131, take W Main Street/M-43 (exit 38) west to 10th Street and turn north on 10th Street. The trailhead is on the west side of the road and has a large paved parking lot. From the Kalamazoo trailhead, you can continue east on Kalamazoo River Valley Trail to downtown Kalamazoo and Parchment.

For lodging choices, South Haven and Kalamazoo offer hotels, motels, and bed & breakfast options.

A handful of small restaurants can be found a short distance from the Kal-Haven Trail in Gobles and Bloomingdale.
